So I'm very behind on posting here. I've been putting updates of Colton on our totsite which if you don't have is http://www.totsites.com/tot/babygift.

My baby is a year old! It really is crazy how fast it goes. I tried to always be conscious of enjoying every minute with him, even the crazy ones and it still flew by. I'm sure I'm like most other mom's but I'm a little sad for the little baby days to be over but excited to watch all the new things he's learning and how much fun he is. He's been a pro at crawling and standing up walking along furniture for months and we really thought he'd be walking by now. He's so close, in the last couple of days we've seen a step in between reaching for things to hold onto. He loves cars and trucks and we're definitely stocked up after his birthday! He got so excited seeing them all. He loves music and dances whenever he hears any music. He still loves chasing the cats and says "Cat-cat" all the time as well as mama, dada, uh-oh. We haven't added any words in the last few weeks but now he points at what he wants or where he wants to go and says MA or grunts and points at things and waits for you to say what it is. He had fun digging in to his cake and loved the icing. We had a "small" party with family except Bobby's family is not small so it was a kind of big party but very fun and Colton wasn't sure what to do at first with all his favorite people in the same room. He did a great job of going to other people, opening presents and charming everyone. He's becoming more independent and does a great job of playing by himself or with mommy and daddy and the kids at daycare, but thankfully he still loves his snuggle time with mommy. I hope that doesn't change any time soon!

Wow, this first year is flying by!  I am enjoying Colton so much but don't want it to go so fast. He is a busy little guy. He is crawling everywhere, standing up on anything he can get his hands on. He babbles all kinds of sounds including mama and dada, sometimes I think he knows what they mean and sometimes they are just random.  He has 6 teeth and is enjoying trying new foods and feeding them to himself like bananas and pears, cheerios and he loves Gerber crunchies (they're like baby cheetos). He gets all excited when he sees the can and starts shaking his arms.  He's finally getting some more hair:)  We go Monday for his 9 month Dr. visit and shots, so I don't know how much he weighs. He's getting bigger but still a little peanut. He wears 9 month onsies and pj's because his body is long but 3-6 month pants fit perfectly because he has short legs and is pretty skinny.  He does an awesome job of playing by himself, he'll just explore all the toys in his toy box and anything else I haven't put away. It's amazing to me how he figures things out. He has a school bus that he LOVES to push all over the house. How did he know how to do that?  He's so curious and smart, it's fun to watch!   He does not like to have his nose wiped or face washed but still loves baths.  I'm so looking forward to fall, which I always do but sharing it with Colton, going to the pumpkin patch and apple orchard and looking at the trees, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas and his 1st Birthday as hard is that is to believe!

New Adventures!

Colton's 7th month was full of many milestones and now that we've begun the 8th month he's not slowing down!  He is crawling full speed ahead, pulling up on things to stand, easily going from sitting to crawling and back again, there is no where he can't go!   He also now has 4 teeth, which he's been an incredibly good sport about getting.  He chatters all the time and loves to chase the cats although they are now a little freaked out and run and hide.  He loves to play with daddy and make growling noises at each other but is definitely going through a mommy stage. He doesn't want me to put him down most of the time and reaches for me as soon as I come in the room, which makes me feel good that he wants me but is a little hard on daddy:(  He still loves to go to daycare and Grammy's house and enjoys playing and exploring there. It's all going much too quickly! I love every new staged but am sad that the last one is over each time. Some may say I'm spoiling him but I love our Saturday afternoon naps with him snuggled on my shoulder, we won't be able to do it forever. He is just so much fun and I'm loving everyday with him.

6 months, almost 7:)

Well, life with a 6 month old is busy so I haven't been able to blog as much as I'd like. Colton is wonderful, so much fun! He rolls from back to bell and belly to back now and can scoot around a little on the floor, not quite crawling yet but I believe it will be coming soon and our house needs some babyproofing!!!  He is very fascinated with the cats and that usually gets him moving in their direction quickly. He eats fruits and veggies and baby cereal now, loves sweet potatos and pears, is not such a fan of green beans and peas. At his 6 month check up he weighed a little under 15 pounds. He's still kind of a little guy. His personality is so much fun, he's generally very happy and smiles alot, he thinks his Aunt Jenny is hilarious and laughs out loud at her singing and silly laughs. He loves Sir Mix a Lot Baby Got Back, which I guess she'll have to stop singing to him once he can repeat things:) Gramma Kae just went home from a week long visit, they had fun playing and singing and we took him for his first swim with her and aunt Jenny and mommy.  He loves his new exersaucer that our friends the Harley's loaned us. It has lots of great baby einstein toys on it and he just spins in a circle checking out each one.

I keep thinking I'd like to post more often but keeping up with my life and spending any spare moments with Colton and Bobby hasn't lent much time to the computer. So here's my monthly update and hopefully I can get back before 6 months!

My baby is growing so fast! He is so full of laughs and smiles. He loves to watch people and take everything in.  He loves to watch ceiling fans, gives lots of smiles to his daddy and still loves to snuggle with mommy. I hope he never stops that.  He can roll from his front to his back but not quite from back to front. He sits up with a little help for balance. He loves watching all the kids play at daycare but gets a little frustrated if they're too loud. He spends a day or two with his grammy and loves laughing at her silly faces and voices.  We are looking forward to a visit from grandma Kae in June. She hasn't seen him since January so she will be excited.  I had a great first Mother's Day, Bobby got me a very nice card signed by both he and Colton, with his handprint, and I picked a pretty hanging basket of flowers for the front porch.  Colton has been eating rice cereal for about 3 weeks now and we're starting some veggies this week!

4 Months Old

Colton is 4months old now, it seems like we've always known him and yet like it was just a few weeks ago he was born and now he's 4 months old! It definitely feels so much faster since I've been back at work, I feel like I miss so much with him but I am happy with his daycare and he usually spends atleast a couple of days a week with Bobby's mom. I found out today he started rolling over at daycare a few days ago and I still haven't seen him do it yet! I live for our evenings and weekends and sometimes look forward to him waking up in the middle of the night so I can see him, as crazy as that is! He's generally sleeping through the night, sometimes waking up once to eat. He weighs 12 pounds 3 oz and is on the "petite" side as our pediatrician says. He's getting longer but not much chubbier. The pediatrician said to go ahead and start rice cereal now, Colton is not too sure about it and makes funny faces. He is very easy going and full of smiles and laughs. He still LOVES his baby einstein activity mat with the star that lights up and plays music. We have one at our house that we send to day care too and one at Grammy's house because he loves it so much. He starts smiling at the light up star as soon as he sees it. Thanks to Laurie and Sarah for getting us that gift and Angela and her family for loaning us their's for a while:)
In other news Kira, the cat, is doing well and I'm enjoying every day we have with him. Bobby and Colton and I have been attending a church here in town Bobby grew up attending and have really enjoyed this together, we attended a class together last weekend and plan to become official members at a ceremony next week.

3 Months old

I LOVED being home with Colton for 12 weeks and as much as I love my job and it brings me a lot of fulfillment, I get so much joy from being a mom. I've always thought it was such a big part of GOD's purpose for me and everyday I know this more and more.  I went back to work 2 weeks ago and it was sooo hard to leave him!!! I cried several times but the worst seemed to be when I was getting ready to leave and when I got home (which Bobby thought I'd lost it a little) but it was these times I realized how much I'd missed of his day and it made me so sad. It's gotten better gradually and he has a great time at daycare part of the week and with grammy 1 or 2 days. I want to be with him but I'm grateful at least that he's happy and sleeping through the night which is awesome!  I cherish our evenings and weekends and maybe some day we can get out of debt enough that I could be home more.  Work has been going very well and I enjoy it while I'm there, I just miss my guy.  Colton smiles all the time now and loves to watch everything. It's so much fun to watch him bond with Bobby more now that he is more interactive.  Colton's a bit of a stinker when I'm taking pictures, he'll smile and laugh and then I go to take a picture and he stops, I'll catch more soon:)
